NU claims first win of the regular season over Cardington

North Union opened its girls basketball season with a 68-44 victory over Cardington on Saturday, Nov. 22, at North Union.

The Lady Cats struggled some in the early minutes, leading 6-1 midway through the first quarter.

They closed the frame strong, scoring seven points in last 54 seconds, capped by Journey Blevins’ buzzer-beating baseline jumper, and led 15-3 at the end quarter.

North Union followed that with 29-point second quarter and led the Pirates 44-17 at the intermission.

Kennedy Harrah led the way in the second quarter as she scored 14 of her game-high 22 points.
