Madison County solar makes payment

While officials in Union County are still wondering exactly how solar farm revenue will play out, those in Madison County have their first payments.

Earlier this month, the Fox Squirrel Solar project delivered its first full PILOT, or payment in lieu of taxes, to Madison County. According to project officials, more than $5 million was paid out, making Fox Squirrel Madison County’s largest taxpayer.

“Through the PILOT agreement, Fox Squirrel Solar will generate $5.193 million annually for Madison County over the life of the project,” according to a release. “The first full payment totaled more than $2.5 million, with the remaining half of the annual p…
