Federal changes prove taxing to human services employees

Union County Human Services is looking at increasing costs, pressures and workload going into next year with no ideal solution in sight.
Human Services representatives told the county commissioners recently that the federal government plans to tighten the belt and change requirements on programs such as Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and Medicaid, among others, thereby increasing the local share and putting more of a burden onto already overloaded case workers.
