Historical flight group could help pay for hangar
The Commemorative Air Force (CAF) wants to build a hangar at the Union County Airport to store more historic airplanes and use the space for events in the future.
At the regular meeting of the airport authority, board president Steve Koenig kicked the discussion off with a presentation. Koenig, who is also the wing leader of the Buckeye Wing of CAF, said he wanted to introduce the idea to the board and let them decide. The Buckeye Wing is a sub-set of the CAF that operates out of the Union County Airport.
“I’m taking off my president hat…I will recuse myself from any voting or discussion,” Koenig said.
