UCBDD plans to seek levy in the fall, cuts

The Union County Board of Developmental Disabilities (UCBDD) will likely ask for a levy renewal later this year and also see cuts to the organization.

Superintendent Kara Brown told the county commissioners Wednesday that a “no new money” ask would have been coming regardless of the conversation around the board’s calculation error from last year.

“The renewal is due one way or another,” she said. “So, we’d be coming for this request (to the commissioners) in June one way or another because it’s the end of the five-year cycle.”

A renewal would not have an increase to taxes but funds coming in also won’t be enough to take preschool services back on.
