Early voting kicks off

Early voting started on April 8 and the Union County Board of Elections is looking for additional workers to help at the polls.

Director Brandon Clay said this year, many of the workers who have done work in the past aren’t returning to help.

“Anybody who is able to work the election, we could use some help,” he said. “We got a lot of people saying ‘no.’ So, I think maybe we’ve had some election fatigue. We’ve had three elections the last four years and I think some of our poll workers are just getting tired.”

To work the polls, a person has to be a registered voter in Union County. High school seniors can serve if they are at least 17 years of age. The board of elections notes that wor…
