“I think you’re still offering too much”

Some Union County officials are saying too many incentives are being offered to businesses looking to come to the area.

That was the sentiment shared by two Union County Commissioners on Feb. 19 as the board heard the latest update to the county’s Economic Development Incentive Policy (EDIP).

The EDIP, which establishes a framework of guidelines for how to approach incentives for businesses looking to locate in the area, was first approved in 2006. The document was intended to be a guide with both clear boundaries and flexibility and officials started updating it over the last year. But county officials said the revised policy may still need work.
