NU board anticipating losses in state funding

North Union is bracing for negative impacts stemming from lack of support for school funding in the state, including projections that the district may lose nearly $1.3 million in funding.

Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine’s 2026-2027 Biennial Executive Budget was released on Feb. 3, which state officials have said “prioritizes children, our workforce, communities, and our economy.”

At the regular meeting of North Union’s Board of Education on Monday, Treasurer Scott Maruniak said that the initial analysis of the budget is not favorable to North Union.
