Trial of Columbus Police Department officer with local ties underway

The trial of Adam Coy — a former Columbus Police officer, Milford Center resident and North Union graduate — is underway.

Jury selection began Oct. 21 in the trial for Adam Coy, a 17-year veteran of the Columbus Police Department. Coy, who graduated from North Union High School and now lives in Milford Center, has been charged with murder, reckless homicide and felonious assault in the killing of Andre Hill on Dec. 22, 2020.

Coy, who was fired after the shooting, has pleaded not guilty to the charges. Coy’s attorney, Mark Collins, has said the officer thought he saw Hill with a silver revolver in his right hand.
