Sheriff’s Report
From Union County Sheriff’s Office reports:
The Northwestern Joint Fire District and deputies were called to a home for a report of a person that was found unconscious and not breathing at 3:37 p.m., March 10. The person was declared deceased and the Union County Coroner’s Office was summoned to the scene. A report was taken.
Local fire department units and deputies responded to the 13000 block of Route 47 for a report of a large fire at 7:57 p.m., March 10. The Northern Union County Fire District determined the fire was a controlled burn and no report was taken. Units from the Scioto Valley Fire District, Northwestern Joint Fire District, Southeast Hardin-Northwest Union County Joint Fire District and the Delaware County EMS District assisted on-scene.
A grassfire was reported in the 16000 block of Betty Lane at 8:04 p.m., March 10, and the fire was contained. The Northern Union County Joint Fire District handled the investigation. Deputies and units from the Northwestern Joint Fire District, Radnor Township Fire Department, Southeast Hardin-Northwest Union Joint Fire District, and Battle Run Fire District assisted on-scene.
A deputy and units from the Northwestern Joint Fire District, responded to the 22000 block of Raymond Road at 8:11 p.m., March 10, for a report of a grassfire. The fire was determined to be a controlled burn and no report was taken.
Deputies, along with units from the Jerome Township Fire Department, were dispatched to a home in the 9600 block of Persimmon Place for a report of a person that attempted suicide at 10:41 p.m., March 10. The person was transported to the Dublin Methodist Hospital and a report was taken.
In the 20000 block of Route 347 on March 11, a deputy and units with the Northwestern Fire District responded at 3:32 p.m. to investigate an injury crash involving a Honda Pilot that struck a deer. A crash report was taken.
Troy E. Meadows, 62, of Richwood, was cited for a stop sign violation following an injury crash. At 3:39 p.m., March 11, Meadows was driving a Chevrolet Silverado at the intersection of Miller Road and Osborne Road and struck a Chrysler Pacifica. Deputies and units from the Northern Union County Fire Department and Mount Victory Fire responded to the scene and a crash report was taken.
Deputies assisted the Richwood Police Department with a burglary investigation at a residence in the 200 block of Pearl Street at 12:57 p.m., March 12. The Richwood Police Department took the report.
Deputies investigated a report of a dog bite that occurred at a home in the 14000 block of Miller Road at 3:55 p.m., March 12. A report was taken.
A deputy met with a resident from the 16000 block of Boundary Road at 5:09 p.m., March 12, to investigate a report of unauthorized withdrawals from the victim’s bank account. Further information is needed to determine if the theft occurred. No report was taken at this time.
At 9:52 p.m., March 12, a deputy met with a Marysville police officer to take custody of Justin M. Oppy, 36, of Richwood, for an outstanding arrest warrant and then transported him to the Tri-County Regional Jail.
A deputy was sent to a business in the 21000 block of Main Street in Raymond to investigate a trespassing complaint at 10:42 a.m., March 13. No report was taken.
On Route 47 near Forrider Road on March 13, deputies responded alongside the Northern Union County Fire and EMS District to investigate a property damage crash involving a 2013 GMC Terrain struck a utility pole at 2:20 p.m., Friday. No report was taken.
In the 20000 block of Route 31 on March 13, units were dispatched to investigate an injury crash involving a semi-truck that overturned at 2:37 p.m., Friday. A deputy and units from the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Northwestern Joint Fire District and Marysville Fire Division responded to the scene. The highway patrol handled the investigation.
In the 26000 block of Route 37 March 14, deputies responded to investigate a structure fire at a home. Units from the Northern Union County Fire and EMS, Northwestern Fire District, Marysville Fire Division, Southeast Northwest Hardin Joint Fire District, Battle Run Fire District, Scioto Valley Fire District, Scioto Township Fire Department, Radnor Township Volunteer Fire Department and Delaware County EMS responded to assist on-scene and no report was taken.
Matthew J. Kater II, 19, of Marion, was arrested and charged with aggravated menacing and disorderly conduct following deputies’ investigation into a dispute between father and son on East Catherine Street in Magnetic Springs at 5:42 p.m., March 14. He was transported to the Tri-County Regional Jail and a report was taken.
Deputies were dispatched to a home in the 18000 block of Miller Road at 8:58 a.m., March 15, for a dispute between a landlord and tenant. Both parties were separated and no report was taken.
Deputies and a unit from the Northwestern Fire District responded to a home in the 25000 block of Claibourne Road for an 88-year-old male that was found deceased by a family member at 1:53 p.m., Monday. The Union County Coroner was called to the scene and a report was taken.
A deputy was sent to Route 37 near Bethlehem Claibourne Road at 9:23 a.m., Monday, for a property damage crash involving a semi-truck that caused damage to private property and left the scene prior to a deputy arriving. A report was taken.
From Marysville Division of Police reports:
Elvira Sosa-Anaya, 49, of Magnetic Springs, was cited for theft at Walmart, 555 Coleman’s Crossing Blvd., at 3:30 p.m., Monday. $179 worth of stolen merchandise was listed as recovered in the report.
