Responders scramble to handle wind calls

Union County is recovering after winds near 70 mph tore through the area late last week.

Local officials said emergency responders were called to a wide range of wind-related incidents across the area Friday, including downed power lines, utility poles down, trees blocking roadways, transformer fires, fire alarms, structure fires and overturned semi-trucks.

Union County agencies responded to at least five separate incidents of trucks being overturned along the roadway such as on Route 31 and U.S. 33. There was also a report of a sixth semi that had gone off the roadway near Milford Center.
