Inside look at the former Villa Hotel, Richwood’s 123-year-old landmark with rich history

Just off of the main thoroughfare in Richwood is the Villa Bar and Grill, a brick-and-mortar business operating on the first floor of a nearly 123-yearold building steeped in a rich local history and, more recently, paranormal activity.

That is what led to a tour and a conversation inside the former Villa Hotel with owner Jackie Hamilton during the Marysville Journal-Tribune Podcast last week. Hamilton, who is also a former village council member, has owned and operated the restaurant inside the former hotel for seven years, during which time she has continued to preserve its history – and documented her own runins with spirits.
