Village looks at regulations for e-bikes, scooters

Richwood officials have noticed an increased presence of motorized scooters and e-bikes in the village, probing questions from council to local law enforcement about regulations.

At a recent meeting of the village government, council member Donald Ridgew a y said he recentl y spoke to a local teen who had a motorized scooter who told him that it can go up to 49 mph.

“I mean this thing ain’t that tall. They’re riding them on the sidewalks…I know it’s a mess,” Ridgeway said.

Council member Jackie Hamilton agreed, adding that some kids ride them in the middle of the street and all over the roadways, causing a concern that someone will get hit.
