UCSO to charge for bodycam footage

The Union County Sheriff’s Office is going to start charging for body and dash camera video requests.

Sheriff Mike Justice told the county commissioners on Oct. 8 that the office is getting slammed with requests for footage and it is impacting the department’s operational process.

“We are getting inundated with Youtube and Facebook requests for in-car and bodycam videos. I mean just inundated. We’ve probably got 30 (requests) waiting,” he said. “We are going to start charging for our bodycam and in-car video redactions.”
