Man who oversaw construction of Honda Auto Plant dies in Japan

“My wife and I would like to live in Marysville after I retire. I don’t want to go back to Japan.”

These are the words of Toshikata “Toshi” Amino, the former Executive Vice President of Honda of America who was responsible for the construction of the local Honda Auto Plant, during an interview with the Los Angeles Times in 1990.

Amino passed away in Japan last week on Monday, Aug. 18, at the age of 90. Though he died thousands of miles away, his heart may well have stayed in Marysville.
