NU grapplers see success in boys and girls wrestling tournaments

North Union’s boys and girls wrestling programs saw various success in two separate tournaments over last weekend.

Led by six individual champions, North Union’s boys team took first place over the weekend in a wrestling tournament at Delaware Christian.

Five NU grapplers reached the finals in their respective weight classes during the Delaware Christian Eagles Classic.

Earning individual titles were Jack Kemp, Corey Gilliam, Mason Andrews, Broden O’Reilly and Jason Rankin.

Other placers included Jaystin Beeney (second), Luke Brown (second), Ben Bonnell (third), Brody Rote (third). Deegan Parks (fourth), Preston Larson (fourth), Kingston Alvarado (fifth), Kory Ramsome (fifth) and Logan Lewis (fifth).

The girls team was also in a tournament over the weekend, finishing third at the Utica Girls Invitational.

The Lady Cats tied with Licking Valley as both programs scored 73 total points.

Dublin Jerome took the championship title with 181.5 team points followed by Utica with 111.5.

Taking second-place finishes were Madison Goad and Kylynn Thompson while Anistyn Wilson, Sage King and Rylee Horne each finished third and Addison Kirby finished fourth.
