UCSO to restart K-9 program

Will likely not be breed traditionally used by law enforcement

The Union County Sheriff’s Office is bringing back its K-9 program.

Sheriff Mike Justice told the county commissioners on July 9 as part of his regular updates that his office will be expecting to get a dog for the department’s K-9 unit very soon.

“We will be in OSP’s (Ohio State Highway Patrol) fall class,” he said. “So, I anticipate in the next month we will be making a trip to either Indiana or North Carolina or both to pick out the dog.”

Both the dog and its handler, Deputy Alex Wargo, will take classes at the Marysville OSP post, so all the training for the program will be local, Justice said. The classes are part of a…
