Willis Hancock, of Canton, visited his family over Sunday; Mrs. Bessie Maris, of Marysville, is visiting her daughter, Mrs. Charles Burgoon – – Mr. and Mrs. Ira LaRue, of Springfield, called on Mr. and Mrs. Harry Young, Sunday afternoon – – Mrs. Agnes Stultz and daughter, Blanche, were week end guest of W.T. Fryman and family, of Magnetic Springs.

Ohio war veteran’s organizations will cooperate with the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force and Ohio National Guard to celebrate the second annual Veterans’ and Armed Forces Day Saturday, Aug. 25 at the 1951 Ohio State Fair. Thousands of veterans will participate in a spectacular parade at 4 p.m., marching from the fairgrounds entrance to the grandstands and around the race track. Units from Fort Hayes and Lockbourne Air base will join in the parade and in formal military, retreat at sundown.

Mr. and Mrs. Richard Griffith and daughters entertained relatives Saturday. July 24 with a picnic supper. Guests included Mr. and Mrs. Edward Baker of New Carlisle, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Barker and family of Dayton, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Cahill and granddaughter of West Mansfield, Mr. and Mrs. Larry Cahill and family of Coshocton, Mr. and Mrs. Ross Shoup and Joseph Spano of Marion and Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Fogt of Wooster. The Ed Barkers and Fogts remained the weekend to attend the Church of Christ Homecoming activities and visit with the Griffiths.

The 71st Annual Ohio Association of Garden Clubs convention was held July 12-14 at Columbus Radisson Airport Hotel and Confrence Center. Approximately 300 members and guests enjoyed the theme “Gardening Rainbows In Our Own Backyard,” Submitted by President Anita Roller. Master Judge, designer, Barbara Eckstein, Pennsylvania, presented floral designs “Creatively Speaking.” A tour to Inniswood Gardens with Debra Knapke, “The Garden Sage” was enjoyed.
