Sale pending contract signing, deed work

It looks like the Richwood Opera House will be changing hands.

During its regular meeting on Monday, village council voted unanimously to accept an offer to purchase the Opera House for $75,000 – which was a quick and quiet move that has led to feelings of relief from members of council hoping to put the decadeslong conversations around the historic building to rest.

“I just want it to… end,” Council member Von Beal said.

Although not completely made official due to pending contract and deed work, all signs point to the Opera House landing in the hands of the buyer Andrew Levering, a small business owner and North Union graduate with plans to turn the space into a food hall and community center.<...
