U.C. Fairground hosts “heavy” equipment show

Remote controlled trucks and heavy equipment rolled through the area on May 17 as hobbyists from all over the country met at the Union County Fairgrounds for the second annual Central Ohio RC Semi and Equipment Show.

The concrete grounds of one of the covered buildings was transformed into a giant “play area,” complete with roads and bridges to navigate along with soft and heavy dirt for remote controlled (RC) vehicles to shift, transport or build with. One thing is for certain, the RC vehicles featured at the show aren’t like the remote toys found at the local Walmart.

Gary Hutzel, who helped organize the event, said that most of the RC vehicles vary in size and design, but are similar in that they all have a high bar…
