Village looks at training to save costs

The Village of Richwood is going to look into training someone to do Backflow inspections to save on costs.

At the regular meeting of Richwood Council on Monday, council member Brad Plotner said that it costs around $300 for 15 minute-Backflow compliance inspections. “That’s a racket,” Plotner said. “I think when it first started it was either $50 or $100 bucks to have it inspected.”

Backflow Solutions, Inc. (BSI) manages the Backflow Prevention Program, which is done to protect the public water system from any potential cross contamination. Backflow devices are required on all industrial and commercial accounts and any account that has an irrigation system.
