Union County EMA joins national program

The Union County Emergency Management Agency is now part of the Accredited Emergency Management Program.

EMA officials made the statement earlier this month after receiving the recognition.

EMA went through the process last year which involves five-steps to achieve accreditation. Agencies have to subscribe to the Emergency Management Accreditation Program (EMAP), fill out an application and do a self-assessment, have an on-site assessment, get reviewed by a committee and then a decision will be made.

“ Accreditation is achieved by a comprehensive evaluation process that includes self-assessment, documentation and peer review to confirm the program’s alignment with the Emergency Management Standard,
