Diversion of infrastructure funding a local concern

Union County officials are concerned about a couple of measures at the state level that could impact decisions and funding at the local level.

One of those measures is pulling funding away from Regional Transportation Planning Organizations (RTPO), which help direct funds to rural areas for roadway infrastructure.

“It appears that they are trying to pull some funding that would be available for construction of improvements within this RTPO. Planning money would still be available, which is good,” County Administrator Bill Narducci said. “In order to get funding for construction, you have to have a plan in place and planning money would still be available but it appears that construction money is trying to be reappropri…
