NU’s Jolliff captures first during Heart of Ohio golf event

After several top three finishes, Alex Jolliff was able to claim his first Heart of Ohio Junior Golf Association title of the season on Thursday at Kings Mill Golf Course. Jolliff, who will be a sophomore at North Union had played three other tournaments in age 13-15 division, finishing third in two of them and second in the third. Posting a two-over-par 37 on the front nine, Jolliff battled his way through the back nine, scoring a 42 for an 18-hole score of 79, defeating Jaxon Sigalet by one stroke, Jensen Stover, Jolliff’s teammate on the Wildcat boys golf team, finished third with a score of 85. Rawley Risner, an incoming freshman at North Union, finished sixth overall with a score of 91. With one tournament remaining on the schedule, Stover is second in the overall standings while Jolliff sits in third place. North Union senior Ethan Monroe competed in the 16-18 division and posted a final score of 93 while Fairbanks’ Luke Shelton had a 97. Competing in the 12-and-under division, North Union’s Taylor Phelan was fifth with a nine-hole score of 61. North Union had two players in the girls division. Miri Taylor notched a 106 while Lily Hall finished at 113.
