Local man charged for assault threats

A Richwood man is facing as many as 21 years in prison for owning an illegal firearm and threatening to shoot and run over a bar patron.

The Union County Grand Jury has indicted Steven Patrick Wagy II, 51, of 18772 Miller Road, Richwood, for two counts of felonious assault of the second degree. The grand jury has also indicted Wagy for one count of having weapons while under disability, which comes with a specification for forfeiture of the weapon.

According to court documents, the felonious assault charge stems from a Dec. 15, 2024 incident where a verbal altercation occurred in front of Slushed Up at 116 N. Main St. The alleged victim and a witness said that Wagy threatened to take the victim “out back,” stating “mul…
