Substitute trees

A group of fifth graders from North Union Elementary School worked to plant buckeye, red maple and red oak trees at Richwood Lake Park last week. The new trees serve as replacements for the dying cottonwood trees. Students also dressed all of the smaller trees in the park with fresh mulch and ended the day with lunch from Wildcat Pizza. Organizers for the event were thanked, including NUES assistant principal Brent Markham and NU’s Cam Miller, planting supervisors Donnie Ridgeway, Michelle Brown and Brodie Rockenbaugh. A special visit from Lieutenant Justin Baldwin of the Richwood Police Department was also appreciated. (Photo submitted by Reddy Brown)
