Last week we talked about what was taught in the Claibourne – Richwood school; this week let us talk about books and films and map and things. Formerly textbooks were furnished by the individual student and after passing from generation to generation they sometimes became the least bit dog-eared. They still get dog-eared but the student doesn’t own them anymore. They are furnished by the Board of Education. About 1935 when the State Foundation Plan of school support was established. Boards of Education started to furnish text books, so that now the Richwood schools furnish the textbooks but no workbook, nor supplies to the pupils.

What do you do when you have a day off from school, the weather is good and Richwood Lake lies waiting? You grab the old fishin’ pole, some worms, a fishin’ buddy and head for that waiting lake. Result? For 11 year old Kevin Wood, son of Charles Wood on Beatty Avenue, it was this fine 14 in., 6 lb. Large mouth bass. Kevin and his fishin’ friend, Jeff Tanner, couldn’t wait to show everyone the “one that didn’t get away” and despite “putting up a whale of a fight”, Kevin landed Mr. Bass while fishing on the bank Monday afternoon.
