Company seeks millions of documents

Request made for all recorder files

A high-volume public records request has pushed Union County to change its records policy.

Thayne Gray, assistant county prosecutor, requested the policy change to the board on Jan. 4 after learning the recorder’s office received a records request last week for all of the office’s digitized documents – a request that would encompass millions of records.

Gray said it appears that the request went to all recorder’s offices across the state.
