Opera House buyer, mayor dicsuss state of contract

The lone bidder on the Opera House came before Richwood Council on Monday amid concerns that he was no longer interested in buying the historic building, leading to a back-andforth between both parties.

At the last meeting of the village council on Dec. 21., Mayor Scott Jerew announced that the contract for the Opera House sale had expired and made claims that the buyer, North Union graduate and small business owner Andrew Levering, was not responding to extend the deal. Members of council were torn when determining whether Levering was still interested in the building and ultimately decided to have him come to a meeting before making any decisions on the future of the Opera House.
