Council looks at strengthening e-bike, scooter laws

Council is looking into state laws regarding electric bikes and scooters to see if the village should make any changes to its ordinances to increase restrictions on them.

At the regular meeting of Richwood Council on Monday, council member Reddy Brown looked into the existing laws enforcing e-bikes and scooters after council discussed the vehicles at a previous meeting.

“There’s a bunch of electric (vehicles) right now, trying to figure them all out is what is confusing,” Brown said.

Currently, Richwood police officers can regulate electric bikes and scooters based on what is in the Ohio Revised Code, but the village can make additional restrictions.
