Old O.N.G Armory to get Historic Marker

The old Marysville Ohio National Guard Armory, located at 124 E. Fourth St., will receive a historic marker this Veterans Day.

Built in 1911, the armory was originally the home of local National Guard unit Company E, 4th Ohio Infantry Regiment before it was later re-designated as part of the 166th Infantry Regiment. The company served in both world wars. On Memorial Day in 1971, the armory was named the Colonel Herman C. Doellinger Armory.

“I’m very excited that this is coming to fruition,” Karen Eylon, director of Union County Tourism, said, adding that they have been working to finish all of the steps for the marker installation to be ready. “Those are ready to go so now we can recognize Colonel Herman Doellinger…
