History of the Scotts Taylor Plant

By By Kyle Meddles, Richwood Gazette

The old warehouse on North Maple Street that the Hope Center is looking to purchase is steeped in local history.

The Scotts Taylor Plant, 333 N. Maple St., traces its lineage all the way back to 1881 when a local farmer purchased the land and moved to Marysville with his family. Marysville Municipal Court Judge and local historian Bob Parrott provided a rundown of the entire known history of the Scotts Taylor Plant.

The plant got its name from Francis Marion Taylor, a successful farmer and horse dealer, who purchased the land in 1881 and built a large home on the property in 1904. After Taylor passed away in 1940, the farm was purchased by O.M. Scott & Sons. Co. in 1944, where it received its second name.
