Large slate of candidates file across county

Union County voters may see a few more names on the ballot hoping to fill vacant office seats this fall.

The filing deadline for the November election passed this week and officials with the Union County Board of Elections said, in some cases, there are a few more people running for office than in the past.

“For city council, it’s probably one of the higher ones I’ve seen,” said BOE Director Brandon Clay. “Usually, we see five or six people for this many seats. Seven or eight for council is not too far out of the norm, but it’s a little higher than usual.”
