Schools try to get ahead of state’s cell phone mandate

The Ohio Department of Education (ODE) has implemented a new model policy aiming to minimize student cell phone use during school hours. Schools have the option to adopt the model policy or create one of their own, as long as it meets the requirements set out in House Bill 250.
With the house bill signing, schools are required to prohibit cell phone use during the school day. This policy must be in place by Jan. 1.
