UCBDD will seek renewal levy in the fall

The Union County Board of Developmental Disabilities is officially asking to return to the ballot this November.

At the regular county commissioners meeting Wednesday, Kara Brown, the UCBDD superintendent, made the formal request to the board to go back before voters in the fall, something that was discussed with the commissioners in April. They will be asking residents to pass the 3.8-mill renewal levy, originally passed in 2002, which would mean no new money for residents.

Brown said the board considered doing a replacement levy as the current one is still collecting at its original amount, but ultimately decided against it.
