Happy little trees

North Union fifth graders along with the high school and some community members planted eight trees in Richwood Park on Monday, April 14. Students also mulched about 80 smaller trees. The theme this year was “colorful” and included four red maple and four red oak trees. The maple trees can live to be over 100 years old and the oak trees can live to be over 300 years old. Students learned the value of trees for shade and enjoyed the hard work involved in planting and mulching. Pictured above, students work with Donald Ridgeway, at left, to dig and plant a tree.
