Airport hangar project hits snag

By By Kyle Meddles, Richwood Gazette

The Union County Airport Authority has hit a couple of roadblocks securing funding for the planned 15-unit T-hangars project. The airport has been pursuing several grants to pay for the T-hangars project, which is estimated to cost the airport around $1.8 million.

The Airport Infrastructure Grant (AIG), also known as the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) money from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is set to provide just under $600,000 toward the project. The Airport Infrastructure Program (AIP) grant from the FAA provides around $150,000 per year to help support airports with improvement projects. The board has been able to accrue the AIP money for the project due to the rest of the airport being in good condition.
