County may not pave roads this year

For the first time in nearly three decades, Union County may not have a paving program going into the spring and summer.

Engineer Jeff Stauch told the county commissioners on Jan. 15 that with growing financial demands and budgetary constraints, paving projects may have to get scaled back this year.

“We’re watching it close, we knew it was going to be a tough year,” he said. “We’re likely not going to be able to pave, which I cannot ever remember that happening, not having a paving program in ’25.”
