Richwood to bring operating levy to voters

Richwood will go to the ballot this year with an attempt to pass the village’s operating levy.

At the regular village meeting on Monday, council voted to adopt a resolution to put a renewal of the existing levy on the ballot on May 6, 2025 in a move that Council President Reddy Brown said was “an emergency” due to time constraints.

“(Village Solicitor Julie Spain) and I were saying how do we not get surprised again in a sudden emergency like this because we about missed it. We barely caught it in time,” Brown said.

The renewal is set to be a 1.2-mil, five-year operating levy, which is an equal rate to the current expiring levy, that would generate $32,474 annually for the purpose of current ope…
