Realignments at UCSO help shore up staff shortfalls

Updates at the Union County Sheriff’s Office are reworking the agency’s structure and officials said positions in the patrol division should get filled next year.

Capt. Bob Roberts told the county commissioners on Dec. 11 that while there are couple of positions still up for grabs, the realignment and restructuring of divisions is allowing for more oppurtunities.

“Before, in court services and community relations, they have two lieutenants that run those divisions. They’re going to be replaced by sergeants,” he said. “It does a couple of things for us, it’s cheaper on the salaries because those positions are replaced by sergeants instead of lie…
