Low bidder tapped for logjam cleanup

Union County has a contractor for the Mill Creek logjam project.

The county commissioners voted Wednesday to approve H & H Land Clearing out of Middlefield, Ohio to take the reigns of the long-anticipated, much discussed cleanup project. The vote included Commissioners Steve Robinson and Dave Lawrence, but Commissioner Dave Burke abstained as he has land in the impacted project area. Former county commissioner and resident, Jim Mitchell, appointed by Judge Don Fraser, voted in his place.

Five bids came into the county last week and officials reviewing the proposals ultimately recommended the company, which had the lowest bid at $2.6 million, more than $1…
