Lady Cats fall to Fairbanks, conclude 2024 fall campaign

North Union’s 2024 girls soccer season had barely finished and Head Coach Bill LeRoy was already thinking about 2025.

Led by the seniors that anchored the team, the Lady Cats’ level of play increased with each passing week as the younger players became more comfortable with their play on the pitch.

North Union’s season came to an end on Saturday at Fairbanks, but the eighth-seeded Lady Cats gave top-seeded Lady Panthers everything they could handle in a 3-0 loss in Division V Central District play. “Obviously, we wanted to win,” LeRoy said. “We were going up against the No. 1 seed and losing 3-0 was a very respectable performance” Fairbanks Head Coach Andy Hockman agreed the Lady Cats are a very improved team.<...
