A garage was destroyed and a home suffered significant damage but no residents or firefighters were injured as a result of a fire in York Township.

Dave Hawkins, interim chief with the Northwestern Fire District, said that about 4:22 p.m., Wednesday, a call came in for a structure fire at 29125 Hoover-Moffitt Road.

“When crews arrived on scene, the garage was fully engulfed and it was extending into the house,” Hawkins said.

He said crews began to fight the fire and were able to “knock it down and get it extinguished.”

Hawkins said firefighters used about 12,000 gallons of water combatting the fire.
