Sheriff’s Office recieves new recruits, vehicles

The Union County Sheriff’s Office has two more cadets in the queue as the department works to fill out open staff positions.

In an update to the commissioners last week, Sheriff Jamie Patton told officials that two cadets are starting the Ohio State Highway Patrol academy this month.

“They’re excited about that and I know we’re looking forward to it,” he said.

Earlier this year, the office had two cadets graduate from the academy and enter field training, though Patton said one of the officers received a knee injury in a self-defense class while still in the program. That officer is working through physical therapy and has yet …
