North Union baseball kicks off season with home opener triumph over Elgin

North Union’s varsity baseball program claimed its first win of the regular season against Elgin at home, 7-3, Monday evening.

The Wildcats delayed the beginning of the regular season last Saturday due to cold temperatures prompting its home opener against Elgin to be rescheduled to Monday.

Despite the circumstances, NU Head Coach Nick Blakeley was confident in his team’s ability to answer the call.

“I am happy for the guys to get off to the start that we did,” he said after the game. “This is an older group that’s been around the block a little bit… they’ve had a really good offseason.”
