NU Lady Cats earn sixth seed in Central District Tournament

Coming off a third straight Central Buckeye Conference Mad River Division title, the North Union girls basketball earned a sixth seed for the Central District tournament.

The Lady Cats (13-7) elected to take a first-round bye and will play their first tournament game on Feb. 24 against either Centennial, the third seed, or Highland, the 16th seed. If Centennial wins North Union will be on the road and if Highland wins it will be a home game for the Lady Cats.

This year was the first time seedings were decided by the MaxPreps Ratings Percentage Index. The concept of using RPI to determine seeding was proposed by the Ohio Basketball Coaches Association and later approved by the OHSAA Board of Directors. The formula combines a …
