North Union grapplers compete in Porter Memorial Tourney

North Union’s high school and middle school wrestling teams competed last Saturday at Hilliard Bradley in the Porter Memorial Tournament.

Six mats were in use with three designated for high school matches and the other three for middle school wrestlers.

“It was a great experience getting to see our young and older wrestlers cheering each other on throughout the day,” NU varsity Head Coach Garret Andrews said.

The high school team finished seventh overall while the middle school team was fourth.

Zack Ellis, Braylen Riffle and A.J. Lesson earned a third-place finish in the varsity tournament. Also placing were Tyler Cline (fourth), Kannon Alvarado (fifth), Josh Ahern (fifth) and Ben Bonnell (sixth).

Wyatt Stacklin, Collin Welch, Jaystin Benney and Jack Kemp each won a championship in the middle school tourney.

Bradley Cline finished third while also placing were Luke Brown (fourth), Broden O’Reilly (fourth), Noah Huddleton (fourth), Charles Oberdier (fifth) and Kory Ransome (fifth).
