Middle school hoopsters pick up wins

North Union’s middle school basketball programs collected several wins last week.

Middle school girls triumph

North Union picked up four wins in recent middle school girls basketball play.

On Saturday, the seventh-grade team won 29-14 over Bellefontaine while the eighth-grade squad posted a 28-14 victory.

Kellyn Ufferman netted 10 points for Lady Cat seventh-graders while Ressyln Riffle matched that number in the eighth-grade game.

In action on Monday, it was the seventh-grade downing Urbana 31-19 and the eighth grade team winning 37-11.

Chloe McElroy dropped in 12 points in the seventh-grade game and Glory Blevins had 12 points for the eighth-grade team.

Middle school boys struggle

The boys teams struggled in their games as the seventh-grade team posted the only win with 51-21 win over Bellefontaine.

Cain Hollaway had 10 points for the Wildcats.

The eighth-grade team lost 46-24 as Dylan Asher led NU with 10 points.

In the games against Urbana, the seventh-grade lost 45-31 and the eighth-grade team suffered a 58-25 loss.

Be Newell had 11 points for the seventh-grade team and Arver once again paced the eighth-grade team with 12 points.
