NU’s Kailin McElroy advances to state CC race

North Union High School senior Kailin McElroy has qualified as an individual for the 2026 state cross country championships.
The state event will be held Saturday at Fortress Obetz & Memorial Park in Columbus.
North Union’s girls team competed in the Division III regional meet at Pickerington.
As a team, the Lady Cats placed 18th with 416 points.
The entire team did not advance to the state meet.
McElroy moved on to this week’s state competitition with a 20th place time of 20:03.0.
Others running for North Union were Layney Wilds (24, 20:23.5), Allana Smith (121, 22:49.7), Adalee Hunt (162, 24:19.8), Analeigh Kelson (185, 25:07.0), Josie Held (197, 25:58.8) and Leah Conrad (221, 29:01.1).
There were three North Union boys who competed in the regional.
They were Mack Marlette (127,18:35.2), Joseph Wiley (142, 18:45.4) and Felix Plouck (149, 18:53.6).
They did not advance to the state.
