Social News: Mrs. F.A. Martin, Mrs. S.J. Brown, Mrs. Harold Winter and Mrs. Alfred Wilkins were hostesses to the Aid Society of the Presbyterian church at Mrs. Wilkins’ home. Officers were elected at the business meeting. The time was spent with fancy work and lunch was served by the hostesses. – – Mrs. J.P. Brooks is entertaining the Embroidery club and several guests this afternoon at their home on south Fulton street. The afternoon will be spent in needlework and a luncheon will be served. – – Mr. and Mrs. O.D. Kinikin gave a surprise party at their home, west of Richwood, Thursday evening , in honor of their daughter, Mildred’s sixteenth birthday anniversary. Those enjoying the affair were: Misses Ruth Chandler, Jemima Bixler, Gertrude Crabtree, Thelma Rosette, Luis Laughrey, Margaret Shoup, Nellie Fisher, Helen Reed, Mary McMahan, Mildred Griffiths, Gladys Shoup, Mildred Debolt and Messrs Luther Laughrey, Charels Wiley, Vern Hamilton, Marion Cameron, Elmer Charles Charleton Phelps, Ralph McMahan, Richard DeWitt, Otis Kinikin, Lutrelle Rosette and Mr. and Mrs. O.D. Kinikin and children, Hellen and Donald, and Mrs. Amanda Johnson. The evening was spent in playing games and music and at eleven o’clock an old-fashioned taffy pulling was enjoyed.

Weekend guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. H.R. Fisher and son, Steven were: Mr. and Mrs. I. Maurice Miller, of Washington D.C.; Miss Louis Ann Fisher and Don Hastings, both students of Otterbein, at Westerville. Mrs. Miller arrived in Richwood Wednesday of last week and her husband joined her here Saturday.

Richwood Lions have added a significant feather to their cap by establishing the first Pilot Dog Program in Union County. Kenny Van Zant, past president; Lester Grose, 2 n Vice-Pres. and Ed Pacha, 3 r Vice-Pres. Were among those who spent many hours formulating the program. The dogs “Trudi” and “Shammie Maeford” were delivered to 4-H members Joanie Conklin and Sandy Feasel, when the canines were 3 months old. (photo accompanies)

More than half of the 22 Union County Leagues of Ohio Child Conservation Leagues have accepted the challenge of Better Mothers CCL at Richwood in donating 200 pennies per member, per club, to the OCCL State Scholarship Fund. The project highlights the 200th birthday of the nation and was instigated by the local group as a meaningful Bicentennial Project. Holding the local club’s check is Mrs. Leroy Salyer, Better Mother’s Treasurer as Better Mother’s League president, Mrs. Verne Payne, reads a recent acceptance response from a County league.
